Regions as motors of new growth through smart specialisation
The Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission and the Flemish Government organised a discussion about the new growth opportunities and transformation powers of regional smart specialisation, in particular in view of the multi-level governance challenges of the European growth and re-industrialisation agendas.
The event took place the 8th of November at European parliament in Burssels. The session of the morning was a high level conference with the participation of the President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy, the Commissioner of Innovation Marie Geoghegan-Quinn, the Commissioner for Regional and Urban Policy Johannes Hahn, among others.
The session of the afternoon aimed to stimulate the alignment of regional and European innovation roadmaps, investments and cluster strategies in four domains. The parallel workshops were focused on cross-cluster and cross-actor cooperation.
