Member States have started to establish their CAP Strategic Plans, even if the final regulations for the CAP were still under discussions this week (a crucial vote took place at the European Parliament while the European Council has also to finalise its position on the future CAP).
In this process, they are supposed to do a wide and transparent consultation with stakeholders. During the last Civil Dialogue Group on CAP held on 13th October 2020, many stakeholders shared their experiences in Spain, Germany, Ireland and Portugal. What emerges from this exchange of experiences is that the process is non equally respected in the different Member States. While in some cases, the process seems transparent and involving a wide-range of organisations; in many Member States, important shortcomings appear like working documents are not easily available, the deadlines to provide comments are really short or the list of stakeholders consulted is quite limited.
If not already done, we encourage you to take part in the consultation process as much as possible in order to explain the needs of mountain farming and mountain areas in the future national CAP Strategic Plans before it is too late.
