From the 5th to 7th July 2017, the first edition of the International Trade show for Mountain Industry and Innovators, “Mountain Business Summit”, was held in Tarbes, in the French Pyrenees. The Summit aimed to bring together professionals and mountain enthusiasts. Various workshops, round tables and professional meetings were scheduled during the 3 days. Around 285 exhibitors were present.
The round table on “Silver Mountain” was the opportunity for Marie Clotteau, Director of Euromontana, to introduce the Silver Tourism project. The aim of the round table was to answer the following questions: how are our seniors really taken into consideration by the mountain economy? Can the infrastructures, activities and services available really suit them? Is it possible to grow old properly in isolated sites such as mountains? Is access to care well considered?
Eric RAULET (Director of DEFISMED), Michel BOUSSATON (Regional counsellor of the Occitanie Region in charge of health, silver economy, and social and health training), Jean-Marc BLANC (Director of the Mediterranean Institute of Longevity Professions), Anass El HALI (Founder of MEDTRUCKS) and Benjamin MISERY (Director of SENIORIALES) also took part in this round table.
Some answers to these questions will be available in the MOOC developed by the Silver Tourism project, which you can follow by clicking here. If you’re interested in this project, the final conference will take place in Brussels on 19 October 2017, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us to know more!
