SODEBUR (Society for the Development of the Province of Burgos in Spain) is officially a new member of Euromontana. It works to promote social and economic development in the rural areas of this Spanish province. SODEBUR is a public company with 100% funding from the Provincial Government.
There are two main mountain chains in the Province of Burgos: the Cantabrian Mountain Range in the North-East of the province and the Iberian Mountain Range in the South-East of Burgos. The highest peak in the Province of Burgos is San Millàn and it is 2130 meters high.SODEBUR is structured in four main areas: Investments and Industrial Engineering Economical and Social Promotion, Institutional Cooperation and Image and Tourism.
- Investments and Industrial Engineering. This department supports the Provincial Government and all its Town Halls in the development of its installations and industrial projects.
- Economic and Social Promotion. It’s in charge of the planning and strategic development of the economy and social activities in the province.
- Institutional Cooperation prepares proposals in order to obtain funding at regional, national and European level with the participation and collaboration of other local agents and entities.
- Image and Tourism. This department is in charge of the touristic promotion of the rural areas of the Province of Burgos with the support of the most important stakeholders of the territory.
On these grounds, SODEBUR’s interests are related to improve the quality of life of its citizens through entrepreneurship’s promotion, highlighting the cultural and natural heritage of the Province and tourism promotion, participation of rural women in the economic life of the municipalities, innovation for rural SMEs, improvement of ICT access and use of mobility solutions….
Euromontana has already worked with SODEBUR for the Move on Green project on sustainable transport in rural and mountain areas.
