The LIFE OREKA MENDIAN project is coming to an end after 6 years of work dedicated to the conservation of Basque mountain pastures through the maintenance of traditional livestock activity.
On 14, 15 and 16 November, the Gandiaga Topagunea Conference Centre will host the project’s final seminar, where the main results obtained will be shared, the future of extensive livestock farming in the Basque communal mountains will be discussed and the best practices for restoring and conserving agro-pastoral habitats will be addressed.
Blandine Camus, Communication and Policy Officer at Euromontana, will present an overview of the situation of pastures in Europe.
On the 16th, participants will be able to visit some of the actions carried out in the Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park thanks to the Oreka Mendian project.
Registration and logistics
The seminar will be held in Arantzazu, in the Basque province of Gipuzkoa, Spain (see how to get there). Interpretation will be available in Spanish, French and Basque. The day can also be followed by streaming. Here is the programme (in French).
