Smart Villages : a new EC initiative to focus on rural revitalisation

The Smart Villages Initiative of the European Commission is one key initiative of the last years of the current programming period and is expected to continue in the future one. With an action plan of the European Commission, a thematic group of ENRD (European Network of Rural Development) and two opinions of the Committee of the Regions and the European Economic and Social Committee, this initiative is under the spotlight. But what is really this initiative? What is its added value for rural areas and especially for mountain areas?
