The European Commission launches a new webpage focused on mountain areas

The European Commission’s DG REGIO has recently created a new webpage dedicated to mountain areas, islands and sparsely populated areas. With at least 15 Member States facing one or several of these specificities, it is crucial that the European Commission provides updated information on these territories.

Relevant news, studies and events will be published on this new webpage, where you can also find examples of projects and targeted information on mountain areas. The webpage can be used as a reference point for the European Commission’s regional policy on islands, mountains and sparsely populated areas. With mountains covering 29% of the European Union’s territory, Euromontana welcomes this effort to give visibility and to disseminate political and scientific documents specifically targeting our territories.
