The territorial impact of EU policies – a consistent and inclusive approach

To close-up the project “Towards a more balanced territorial development in the EU (European Union)”, the  section Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment (NAT) of European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) held a final conference in Brussels on 9th September 2015. The project aimed to adopt an opinion on how future EU policies should achieve a more homogeneous territorial development. Indeed, currently in several EU regions, young people are leaving their hometowns to find work in distant cities. The issue of depopulation is critical in rural areas and especially in the most remote ones as in several mountain areas. Marie Clotteau from Euromontana was invited to participate in the debate and to explain how mountain areas can contribute to a more balanced territorial development.
