The Avila County Council (Diputación de Ávila) has just joined Euromontana.
Avila County Council is one of the nine provinces of the region of Castilla and León in the centre of Spain. Its capital, Ávila city was declared a UNESCO World heritage City in 1985.
The County Council represents 248 small municipalities, most of them located in mountain areas higher than 1000 meters above sea level, and as a public administration provides them legal and technical and support.
Through the Environment and Rural Development Department and European Issues Department the province promotes policies to maintain the richness of the territory and the sustainable management of the resources. The province has the biggest network of rural holiday homes for rent in the region and the highest concentration is in the area around “Gredos Mountain Range”, declared a Regional Park in 1996 and known as the “ceiling of Castilla and Leon and stone heart of Spain”.
The province experience on cooperation will be strengthened by being a member of Euromontana and we expect to share and discover innovative skills to preserve the inhabitants, the culture and way of life of mountain’s territories.
Euromontana is happy to start a collaboration with the Avila County Council and is looking forward to this future cooperation.23 May 2017
