The post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework – Shaping the future of Europe’s mountains

Euromontana's demands for the next EU long-term budget

The European Commission is preparing to publish its proposal for the post-2027 MFF this summer, which is expected to be aligned with the new geopolitical and economic challenges. In this context, Euromontana is stressing the importance of an ambitious budget for the Common Agricultural Policy and cohesion policy.

Moreover, although the challenges of competitiveness and simplification are certainly important, Euromontana would like to reiterate the importance of the EU’s long-term commitments to the environment and the climate.

Our demands are structured around the following recommendations:

  • Maintaining a separate and consistent budget for the Common Agricultural Policy, including its rural development pillar
  • Directing 15% of CAP funds to areas subject to natural constraints
  • Ensuring an ambitious cohesion policy that leaves no territory behind, by allocating 25% of the ESIF to Article 174 territories, including 10% for mountain areas.
  • Preserving the partnership principle and the role of the regions in implementing place based policies.
