Market valuation and compensation of ecosystem services provided by Upper Austrian livestock farmers

With a view to better remunerating mountain farmers, the project has helped to quantify the ecosystem services provided by mountain livestock farmers in Upper Austria and the associated provision costs but also to identify interesting solutions for remunerating these services.

Cross-border management of mountain grasslands for better nature conservation in the Basque Country

In response to the poor condition of Basque grasslands, the OREKA MENDIAN project aimed to develop a joint management strategy for mountain pastures in the 15 Natura 2000 sites in Euskadi and the 8 sites in Iparralde.

Low-carbon dairy farm: reducing the climate impact of milk production in the mountains

The initiative Law Carbon Dairy Farm aims to propose concrete actions to each farmer, consistent with the constraints of the farm, including altitude and the lack of mechanisable land in order to reduce the carbon footprint of milk production.

MapLoup is a predation data portal with an online visualisation interface. It provides livestock farmers and shepherds, technicians and policy-makers with clear, reliable and fast real-time access to data on wolf predation.

In Thessaly, Greece, cooperation Terra Thessalia developed a GPS tracking system in Thessaly to facilitate pastoral activities but also communication between farmers’ and other actors such as foresters and consumers.
