Euromontana and CIMO re-elected to the Mountain Partnership Steering Committee

Euromontana and its member CIMO (Centro de Investigação de Montanha) have been re-elected to the Steering Committee of the Mountain Partnership, where they will continue to represent the European Major Groups for the 2026–2030 mandate. The election took place during the 7th Global Meeting of the Mountain Partnership, held in Andorra la Vella from 26 to 28 March 2026 under the theme Mountains for the Future: Responsible Tourism, Thriving Communities.

Launched in 2002 during the World Summit on Sustainable Development and hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Mountain Partnership is a global alliance dedicated to improving the lives of people in mountain areas and protecting mountain environments. It brings together governments, intergovernmental organisations and major groups from across the world to advance sustainable mountain development through cooperation, advocacy and shared action.

Within this framework, the Steering Committee plays an important strategic role. It helps guide the work of the Mountain Partnership, supports coordination among members and contributes to shaping priorities for action. For Euromontana, this renewed mandate is an important opportunity to ensure that the perspectives, needs and experience of European mountain areas continue to feed into global discussions on sustainable mountain development.

The joint representation of Euromontana and CIMO also reflects the value of combining territorial advocacy and research expertise. Together, we will continue to promote dialogue among members of our European constituency, strengthen exchanges with the wider Mountain Partnership community, and support policies and initiatives that benefit mountain areas and the people who live and work in them.

We warmly thank all those who supported our candidacy. Your trust is both an encouragement and a responsibility. We look forward to continuing this work over the next four years and to contributing, together with our partners, to a stronger voice for mountain areas in Europe and beyond.
