During a breakfast debate held on May 14, initiated by Marie Antoinette Maupertuis, member of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), and Herbert Dorfmann, Member of the European Parliament, the European Alliance for Mountain Areas was officially launched.
The European Parliament today adopted its report on the European Water Resilience Strategy recognising the essential role of mountain areas and point out that “mountains are real water towers and important freshwater reservoirs in Europe, the Alps alone providing 40 % of Europe’s fresh water”.
